Crane Boom Angle Monitoring

That is why Windcrane now supports boom angle monitoring through the Windcrane inclinometer, giving teams clearer visibility of how the crane is positioned throughout the day, overnight, and during changing weather conditions.

Why boom angle matters

Cranes need to be parked correctly when they are not in use. If the boom is left at the wrong angle, especially in strong wind conditions, it can create unnecessary risk for the crane, the site, and surrounding areas.

Having a clear record of the boom angle helps teams understand whether the crane was positioned safely and whether site procedures were followed.

With the Windcrane inclinometer, the boom angle is measured in degrees and recorded through the Windcrane platform. This gives operators, site teams, and managers better visibility, whether they are on site or checking remotely.

The inclinometer can be shown directly alongside wind speed and other site data. This means teams can quickly see key information in one place:

Designed for luffing jib cranes and mobile/crawler cranes

The Windcrane inclinometer is designed for use on luffing jib cranes and mobile/crawler cranes, and integrates with the Windcrane data logger.

It is supplied with secure magnetic mounting and an extension cable, making it a practical addition for sites that need to monitor boom angle as part of their wind safety process.

Once installed, the data can be viewed online and included in downloadable Windcrane reports.
