Anemometer Calibration Certificate Validity

The anemometer itself can be supplied with a Measnet calibration certificate. MEASNET calibration certificate for an anemometer is commonly valid for 12 months of field use after installation.

• After its expiry, can the anemometer itself be calibrated again?

It is possible to re-calibrate but you may find after one year on a crane that the anemometer has suffered a lot of wear and tear. The cost and time to send said anemometer to the laboratory is normally more than the purchase of a new anemometer unit.

Managing Certified Anemometers

Calibration certificates typically show a calibration date, not an expiry date. The expectation around calibration comes from industry practice and contractual requirements. Here are the common patterns seen across major operators and OEMs:

Calibration status in the dashboard

To view the certificate status:
1. Search for the device using IMEI
2. Hover over the symbol under the paper icon 
       Valid Certificate             Expired Certificate
3. The WINDCRANE platform will display the calibration certificate expiration date

To download the certificate:
4. Click the symbol mentioned in step 2
5. On the "Wind Speed max" row, click the  or  under the paper icon 
The calibration certificate will be downloaded

Replacing an Anemometer

WARNING

IMPORTANT for the installation of calibrated wind speed sensors:

As the anemometers are calibrated, you must tell us (via support@windcrane.com) which sensor serial number has been installed onto which data logger IMEI. This is because the settings need to be changed on the Windcrane web portal so that data is displayed correctly. We also need to know when the new calibrated sensor (date and time) has been installed.

You can find the serial number of the calibrated anemometer on the yellow label on the pole of the anemometer.

When an anemometer is replaced:

• Share the new serial number that was paired with the Windcrane logger
• Notify Windcrane team by providing the device ID along with the anemometer serial number and the date of the installation

This allows records to be updated correctly and avoids confusion during audits or renewals.
